Fabregas is under contract to Arsenal until 2014, having signed an eight-year deal in 2006, but has resisted renewing it even though manager Arsene Wenger has been keen for talks. Fabregas is advised by Darren Dein, son of former Arsenal vice-chairman David, who maintains good relations with Barcelona and negotiated Thierry Henry’s move to the club from Emirates Stadium in 2007.
Fabregas signed his most recent contract in October 2006 and will be free to buy out the remaining years of his contract, which would amount to around £16m in the transfer window of January 2011.
