Fabregas for Barca

Blaugrana president Joan Laporta is stepping down next summer. He wants to re-sign the Catalan midfielder, who would become a legacy of the Laporta-era.

Ever since taking over in 2003, the Camp Nou supremo has been irked by the Gunners’ move to sign Fabregas from Barca’s youth system.

Though Arsenal have resisted the Blaugrana’s approaches for some time, the Spanish outfit’s latest efforts could bear fruit, according to The Daily Mail.

Toure will be offered for Cesc along with Bojan. The pair are both unsettled at Barcelona, having seen their chances reduced this season by the emergence of other stars.

While the Ivory Coast midfielder is coming second in his battle for a place with Seydou Keita, Bojan has seen Pedro and Jeffren Suarez compete for the wide positions in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may favour the bid as he is reportedly an admirer of both Barca players.

Green’s sending-off gave James the chance to make his case to reclaim the position of Capello’s first-choice goalkeeper. There was nothing the 39-year-old Portsmouth player could do about the Ukraine goal or a shot by Milevskiy later in the first half which came back off a post.

MU back in for £35mio on David Villa

Manchester United have revived their bid to sign Valencia’s £35million-rated striker David Villa. The 27-year-old is back at the top of the club’s wish list, with Sir Alex Ferguson determined to get his man.

United thought they might land Spain’s star of Euro 2008 last May by matching Valencia’s asking price, only for Villa to stall as he hoped to join either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

But now, with the Spanish clubs investing heavily in other strikers, United hope he can be persuaded to join them next summer.

Englang vs Ukraine : World Cup QUalification

Stuart Pearce insists he has buried the hatchet with Arsene Wenger over Theo Walcott’s controversial inclusion in the England Under-21 squad.

Ukraine v England

Wenger has been smarting since the summer when he claimed Walcott was being overworked by playing for England’s senior side in World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra, then for the Under-21s at the European Championship in Sweden.

The Arsenal manager’s mood was not helped when Walcott suffered a back injury in pre-season, ruling him out of the first 11 games before he made an appearance off the bench against Blackburn on Sunday.

However, Under-21 boss Pearce dismissed concerns that Walcott’s call-up for Friday’s European Championship Group Nine qualifier against Macedonia at the Ricoh Arena has put further strain on his relationship with Wenger, insisting the issue has been resolved by clear-the-air talks.
